Word In: Army Digital Uniform… Not Camo… exactly.

Military Times: Word In: Army Digital Uniform… Not Camo… exactly.

They don’t need to test the thing for me to tell you the color scheme is bad.  At a long distance the thing looks blue.  I don’t know of many blue things out in the desert, woods, and mountains we can blend in with.

Defense Tech: Revealed: The Army’s New Camo – Looks like the Army is full of idiots… Again…

Seriously!?  Are the Officers who are in charge of this, even trying anymore?  You got to be kidding me.  I love the wear of the ACU, but it’s ugly and it’s not very effective camouflage.  This is a step in the wrong direction.  It looks to me like some officer was like, “Hey take what he have now and throw in some brown, yea… yea… that sounds like a good idea… I’m off to get some coffee.”

If you were a smart leader you would lead from example.  It’s called the Marine digital camouflage.  The Marine digital uniforms are excellent camouflage and they look great.  For the army use of course you just got to take out those little marine symbols they got on them. Geez…

Stars and Stripes: Jared Monti’s soldiers watched him give his life, and it changed theirs

It hurts to read this article, it’s a really powerful story.  Beyond being a story of tragedy and heroics, it also stands out to me that this might be a case of lowest bidder contracts.  The winch line broke?  Two people at one time being pulled up by a wench has to weight no more than 500 pounds.  The little winch on my ATV can hold against  1,500 pounds.  Winch’s on trucks have to be around 5,000 pounds.  How could a wench on a HELICOPTER just snap?

To me the biggest tragedy is the medic never realizing that the winch could just snap and kill the both of them.  At least the infantrymen know they are going into battle and the inherent dangers.  A winch just snapping from a meager 500 pounds is jaw dropping.

The Associated Press: WWII vet naturalized after nearly 70 years – Bureaucracy to blame?

This guy’s problem is unique, but many people wanting to be Americans are waiting 8 to 10 years through bureaucracy to become an American.  Our process to become a legal immigrant really has to be reformed.
