Terminology
Blind Believers – People who blindly follow a candidate without getting any information about them. These people were easily persuaded by empty campaign slogans, symbols, or a friend’s suggestion. Blind believers can also be voting based upon party lines, but the only reason they belong to a party is because of the negative sterotype of the opposing party.
Bravo Foxtrot or Blue Falcon – Military acronym for Buddy F!cker. A person who sells out their friend or betrayed their friend.
Conservative – Jack’s definition - I like to think of it as Original Liberalism. A belief that all (wo)men are created equal and that all-governments inherently try to take away liberty and invidual freedoms. Because government is a necessary evil, it must exist, however, in a limited state. The powers of a government must be well defined as to stop future leaders from developing more government out of the sake of political gain. A belief that the Bill of Rights were not the only rights to be protected, but the most important that they needed to be put down on paper that the government never-ever infringe upon them. For the current definition of Liberal look HERE! Modern day Liberalism directly opposes Original Liberalism.
First Sergeant – The second highest ranking NCO in the NCO Corps (If you consider SGM and CSM to be same rank). The First Sergeant is the life-blood of the unit. He makes all of the important decisions and direct’s the will of the commander. The First Sergeant is responsible for managing all of the NCOs and troops below his command. It’s the First Sergeant’s resposibility to make sure everything happens. To become a First Sergeant you have to attend First Sergeant’s School. Master Sergeants and First Sergeants share the same paygrade and rank. The difference between the two is that First Sergeant’s attended First Sergeant School and Master Sergeants didn’t. Master Sergeants, while can serve as the First Sergeant (positional) they are considered experts in their field, while First Sergeants are experts at leadership.
JDAM - It’s a Bomb, the kind you drop from a plane.
One-Issue Believers - People who support a cause or candidate for one or few similar views-points they share. Example: Many citizens supported Obama’s presidency, however, it was based on agreeing with one or a few viewpoints. The problem with One-Issue Believers is they only search to see if the candidate supports the issue they cared about. Once they got their answer, they might stop looking into the rest of the views. People who supported Obama because he wanted to shut down GITMO might be angry to find out after his taking office pushed for Universal Health Care. One-Issue Believers are usually only informed about the things that mattered to them at the time.
One-Issue Denial – This is a One-Issue Believer who continues to support their candidate even after they are exposed to the candidates viewpoints they would disagree with. To deal with this they go into denial and either blame the other side of lying or just plain come up with excuses for the reasons their candidates believes said things.
Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major – The rank of Sergeant Major is the highest rank a NCO can achieve. The job of the Sergeant Major is to ensure the First Sergeant and his NCOs are taking care of Soldiers and enforcing military rules and customs. The Sergeant Major also is an advisor to the commander. In reality, the Sergeant Major coming from the rank of First Sergeant moved from a job with huge responsiblities to one that has almost none at all (in practice). Many Sergeants Major end up just walking around looking for Soldiers to harrass. Because it takes so long to be promoted to SGM, they tend to be in their early 50s, and start to resemble angry old retired men. One Soldier told me his First Sergeant used to say, “If you see the Sergeant Major, you turn around and go the other way. The Sergeant’s Major job is to make the First Sergeant’s life hell.”
True Believers - Truly believe in the cause or candidate they support on all issues. These are the people that sterotypes are based upon. These people know all of the views and do a lot of research into their cause or candidate. They cannot be persuaded to change as their views are built on an ideology.
